We are a restless family of four, looking for adventure, ways to increase our funds, and more educaitonal options for our littles. We have exchanged things for experiences. Join us!

Making money online is difficult to get started.

With so many decisions to be made about your online business, let me make this one easier…affiliate marketing is one of the best ways to make money online and you should be doing it. Perhaps there are bloggers out there that would disagree, but I’m telling you that even the biggest of the big pros would tell you the same.

Ask Pat Flynn from Smart Passive Income who says that if there is anything that he would suggest to the new blogger is to start right away with affiliate marketing (among other things). If you don’t know who Pat is, he is an online influencer who teaches how to make money online in a variety of ways and makes most of his money through affiliate marketing, money that is in the realm of $167K+ per month.

Don’t believe Pat?

Perhaps you can ask Michelle from Making Sense of Cents. Michelle has a finance master’s degree and used her knowledge to build a finance blog that now earns her over $150K per month. Much of her money comes from affiliate income that she promotes on her website and through the help of others that promote her wonderful course: Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing.

Michelle has created this course to help others learn more about how she grew her brilliant success online. I have taken it and can tell you that even as someone who understood affiliate marketing, she still had so much to teach me.

If you are serious about making money online, then you should be serious about affiliate marketing. And if you are serious about affiliate marketing, then you should take Michelle’s course to be sure you’re doing it right from the get-go.

Perhaps you aren’t sure what affiliate marketing is exactly or how you could use it on your blog.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

It’s simply the art of promoting or marketing other people’s/company’s products on your website for which you get a percentage of the sale as compensation. The commission can be as low as 2% of a product and up to 40%.

To get you started with understanding affiliate marketing let me give you these 9 brilliant tips that will help you make more money online.

Pick and Promote Products You Love:

Sometimes affiliate marketing can be sleazy because some folks market products that they’ve never tried or don’t believe in, but I know you’re not that person (and neither am I).
Not sure where to start? Consider products within your field that you already use. Are there eBooks that you’ve read, courses you’ve taken, products you’ve tried, services you’ve used that offer affiliate income. Simply look up the product online with the words affiliate program to find out. Here are some other places to look:

  1. Amazon Affiliates
  2. Commission Junction
  3. ShareASale
  4. LinkShare
  5. Rakuten Marketing

Each of these places has great affiliate products that you can choose from. But again, pick ones you know or test them out and use them on your website.

Offer Valuable Information:

Make sure that when you promote the products that you give valuable information through reviews or step-by-step tutorials. If allowed (be sure to check this) and if the amount you get in return (25%-40% commission) offer a giveaway or added value to the product to encourage a sale from your link.

Connect With Your Audience:

Using a review or tutorial, be sure to connect with your audience and let them know right away why the product is going to solve a problem for them or help them achieve a dream. Let them know that this is a great or must-have product to add value to their lives (which is why you should only use products you believe in…because then you can do this without feeling weird about it).

Roundups and Other Posts:

Consider following up your review/tutorial with other posts like roundups that also feature your affiliate products. A roundup post is when you put together a list of your favorite or best tips, trick, hacks, etc.

Other Promotional Methods:

If you have an affiliate that you really love then you can promote it in other ways other than your blog. For example, you can promote it to your email list in an email. You can create ads for your blogs that promote your most successful and favorite affiliates and add them to the sidebar of your website for more exposure.

Pinterest:

Use Pinterest to promote your blogs, all of them. But make sure that you use it to promote the heck out of your affiliate posts too. Pinterest is a fantastic platform to get your blog posts in front of your audience. And yes, there’s a course for that too. It’s called Pinning Perfect and it helped me navigate the inner workings of Pinterest for my business. But seriously, us bloggers sometimes need to invest in our businesses and bloggers needs to get paid (yes that bad grammar was on purpose).

How Many?

Don’t worry about filling your blog with a million different affiliate links, think quality instead of quantity. Find quality products to review and give a quality review. This will help you sell far more.

Make Them Visible and Easy to Understand:

Don’t be coy with your links. There’s no reason to be shy about advertising for these products since you love them so much. Your readers will not know that a random link in your blog is an affiliate link, but if you set up the link properly then people will understand that it’s a link to the product, service or course you’re suggesting. Spell it out for them and you will do better. And don’t forget to put your affiliate disclaimer at the top of each post (see the top of this blog for an example). It is the law and it is also just good to be clear and forthcoming with this information. In fact, I find people appreciate the honesty and will reward you by using your link if they plan to use the product anyways.

Get Started Now:

Like I said above, even the big bloggers agree that affiliate marketing is a great way to make money and not only that you get to help promote products for others that deserve it. You help yourself, you help your readers, and you help the person that created the product you love. It’s a win, win, win situation.

Like I already said, I took Michelle’s, Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing and it was so very helpful and I think it will be very helpful to you too. It’s the first step to working toward her massive success of over $150,000 per month. Perhaps this seems far off, but think about how much $1000 per month would help? Maybe you’ll be able to achieve $5,000 per month and start your own world journey. Once you get started and that money comes in, then you know you’re doing it right and success propels success, so it will grow. Once it grows, you can diversify, but until then, check out Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing:
